How Do I Connect?

At West Valley Presbyterian Church (WVPC) our vision is to become an authentic community of faith, hope, and love. We desire to be a place where people truly connect with God, connect with each other, and connect with God’s extraordinary purpose for their lives. We hope this can be a place where you can explore who God is, grow in faith, and experience vital, authentic community.

Since community is such an important part of our lives, we go to great lengths to try and help people connect in the church. What follows are the various small-groups, programs, and classes designed to help people integrate into the community of West Valley Presbyterian Church. If you are newer to the WVPC community please let us know personally if there is any way we can be of assistance to you. We would love the chance to meet you and share more about how West Valley Presbyterian Church can be a wonderful place for you and your family.

Where to Start...

Most people begin connecting with our community by visiting our Sunday worship service at 9:30am. This is a great place to begin to connect with the church, but is often not a great place to make deeper relationships because of the large group-size involved. Therefore, in order to really begin to connect in the life of WVPC we strongly recommend that people begin participating in one of the following small-groups, programs, or ministries.

10 Minute Parties

Held every few weeks, these gatherings offer opportunities for those newer to WVPC to meet the pastors and others who have a heart to see people connect. Listen for announcements in the Worship Celebration.

New Life Bible Study

The New Life Bible Study meets most Sundays at 11:00am right after our worship celebration. It is relaxed, conversational, and specifically designed for new participants. The goal of the New Life Bible Study is to help people grow spiritually and have an authentic relationship with God. It is a great place for newcomers even if you have never studied the Bible. Don’t worry, there’s no homework!

The Alpha Course

Alpha is an 11 week practical introduction to the Christian faith that features great food, great people, and lots of discussion. All questions are welcome and encouraged. Alpha is perfect for non-Christians who are spiritually seeking, newer Christians who want to grow more in their faith, and veteran Christians who are looking to refresh their relationship with God. The Alpha course is usually held in the fall of each year. Call the church office for more details.

Mariner Small-Groups

The Mariner “Ships” are small-groups dedicated to the purpose of community and fellowship. Most meet monthly, and groups vary in age. All these groups are open and warmly receive new participants. For more information about checking out a ship small group, please contact Nina Holton in the church office at 408-252-1365.
