Small Groups
At West Valley Presbyterian Church we know that God has an extraordinary purpose for our lives. Part of the way that God wants to help us grow is through the experience of authentic community -- where we can experience true friendship, fellowship, and authentic connection with others. At WVPC we know that it is difficult to connect deeply with others on Sunday morning. That is why we strongly encourage everyone to join one of our small groups where the big church can become “smaller”, where great relationships can be developed, and where God can touch each of us with the blessing of authentic community. Read below about various small group opportunities for you and your family.
Mariner Ship Small Groups
Mariner Small Groups are the backbone of community at WVPC and every WVPC member or regular attendee is warmly encouraged to join one of the “Ships”. What is a Mariner Ship Small Group at WVPC? Mariner ships are small groups of ten to twenty persons that meet about once a month for the purpose of Christian fellowship. Mariner Ships were originally organized at WVPC over 40 years ago, and a few of the ships organized at that time continue to this very day (over 40 years of fellowship!) There are currently ten different ships at WVPC. Some are organized according to age group while others have a variety of ages in them. All of them are very committed to developing real community and caring for those who participate in them, and they have lots of fun along the way. All Mariner ships are open to new members. Bible Studies
In addition to the Mariner Ships, WVPC also provides several Bible Studies to help people grow in their faith and enjoy the blessing of growing deeper in fellowship with one another. These groups feature a variety of ages and meet at different days and times depending on the needs of the group. These groups often start and stop several times during the calendar year, so it is very important to contact the group leader before visiting a group. Women’s Bible Study. Meets at WVPC on Monday mornings, 9:00am to 11:00am. Does not meet in the summer.
Men’s Study Breakfast. This group features breakfast and discussion of the previous week’s sermon text. Meets weekly on Wednesdays, 6:30am to 8:00am.
Women Community Bible Study. Meets at WVPC on Wednesdays at 9:00am. Does not meet in Summer.
New Life Bible Study. Meets Sunday mornings at 11:00am, after the worship service. All are welcome.
