I am back from sabbatical and had a wonderful restful time. Thanks so much for this great opportunity. I am so rested and inspired that I have decided to send you weekly devotionals each week for the Season of Lent, which by the way we are in.
I hope you enjoy these and that you spend a little extra time with Jesus this Lenten time and prepare your hearts for the resurrection. Have a wonderful week
Blessings. Pastor Kim
The word HOLY means set apart. The Lenten Season, and in particular Holy Week, is a time to set oneself apart and set some sacred time apart to commune with God and enter again into pondering Christ's suffering and crucifixion as well as His great love for each of us and our world.
The prefix, RE, means "again". As we enter again into the Lenten season, we are invited to REMEMBER what Christ did for each of us and to REALIGN our hearts to Him in RESPONSE.
This first week of Lent set aside some extra time to be with God. Perhaps do something differently in order to spend time with Him –something you would look forward to doing. Maybe it is taking a walk in the woods and noticing the beauty of creation and thanking your CREATOR GOD for displaying His majesty in the created order of the world. Or maybe it is spending time away from demands in a quiet spot that is restful and peaceful where you can simply listen.
In the following weeks of LENT we will be talking about how to REMEMBER, REALIGN and RESPOND. For this week simply BE in God’s presence and enjoy the moment. Make the intentional choice to SET APART time to be with Jesus – to practice holiness.
And may the God of peace and great joy be with you!
LENTEN PRAYER: Dear Lord, As we begin this Lenten Season may I be intentional about spending extra time “set apart” from daily habits to be with you. Please reveal to me your wonderful presence in greater measure as I endeavor to seek you first in my life by the power of your Holy Spirit at work in me. In Jesus’ name, AMEN.
