Welcome to the monthly edition of the Olive Twig where I try to keep you posted on the comings and goings here at church – the fun, the business and the spiritual growth! First off I want to thank all of you for your participation at all of our Easter and Holy Week Services. It was a wonderful season and a great celebration of our risen Lord!
In response to health concerns in our congregation the Worship Committee approved a monthly healing service on the 4th Sunday of each month directly after our regular worship service. We will be diligent to stop our regular worship at 10:30am and move right into our Healing Services on these 4th Sundays. We will end promptly at 11:00am. Our first Healing Service will be this month on Sunday, April 24th. All are invited.
This was a huge success last year and promises to be again. Bring your friends and your daughters to the Women’s Tea on Saturday, April 30th from 11-1pm. It is a beautiful event with special speaker Ellen Steele presenting. We hope you will come!
PLEASE PRAY for our Session Retreat this coming Saturday from 9-1pm at Valley Presbyterian Church in Portola Valley. We have the Director of the Elder Leadership Institute, Lisa Johnson, coming to speak to us about the importance of leading the church from a session that is a spiritual body first – not just a group of people doing business. We will learn some important concepts to enhance our growth and our trust in one another as well as share some of our spiritual journey together.
The BELIEVE series is off to a great start! I have heard such positive things about this new 2nd Hour series that happens after church each Sunday. Stop by and check it out after worship!
Walt Gerber, a mentor of mine, and the former Senior Pastor at Menlo Park Presbyterian Church went to be with the Lord last week. He was an amazing person. The service is at 2pm this coming Thursday at MPPC for all who would like to attend.
Coming up! Watch your bulletins and the website for the All Church Pie Fest which is a great fun evening for the wole family. 5pm-8pm May 7th! Don’t miss it.
