Music at WVPC
Speak to one another with Psalms, hymns and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Ephesians 5:19-20
West Valley Presbyterian Church enjoys a strong tradition of glorifying God through music excellence. WVPC offers a unique mix of contemporary and traditional styles that reflects our intention of being a multi-generational and musically diverse community. Besides supporting the community in all our worship experiences, we offer many special musical events throughout the year including the Messiah Sing, Christmas Concert, Good Friday Music Service, and Easter Sunday Celebration. WVPC’s Adult Music Ministry features the Chancel Choir, Contemporary Worship Ensemble and Handbell Choir. Chancel Choir
The Chancel Choir is our largest musical group and the largest small group ministry at WVPC! The group sings nearly every Sunday morning from September through June and meets occasionally during the summer months*. Our repertoire choices reflect the diverse musical taste of our congregation. Ranging from Classical choral works and Traditional Hymn arrangements to Contemporary Gospel and Modern Rock, this group really does it all! Rehearsals are held Wednesday nights from 8:00 - 9:30 pm.
Contemporary Worship Ensemble
The Worship Ensemble is a team of select singers and instrumentalists that leads our congregation in times of praise and worship each Sunday morning. The Ensemble rehearses weekly throughout the year on Wednesday nights from 6:30 - 8:00 pm. If you are interested in joining this group, please contact Kevin Friesen.
Bell Choir
The Bell Choir is an ensemble of traditional English Handbell ringers; we also play choirchimes occasionally. We rehearse from September to June and share our music in church services roughly once a month. Our repertoire includes a range from hymns to "fun pieces". Rehearsals are Wednesday nights from 6:30 - 8:00 pm. If you are interested in joining the Bell Choir, contact director, Steve Huntington.
Behind the Scenes
In addition to our "up-front" leaders, every worship gathering requires a team of skilled people working behind the scenes!
