Our Pastors

Transitional Pastor Florence (Flo) Deans
Pastor Flo was born in Hong Kong, the daughter of missionary parents. She attended a British school with international classmates from around the world, and learned Cantonese while playing with the neighbor children.

When she completed high school, she moved to upstate New York to attend the University of Rochester, where she discerned God’s call to vocational ministry. After graduating, she moved to California to attend Fuller Theological Seminary, earning her Masters in Inter Cultural Studies from the School of World Mission, and subsequently a M.Div. from the School of Theology. 
Moving to the Bay Area in 2000, she began work in full-time pastoral ministry, serving in various capacities at several Bay Area churches, working with children, teenagers, college students, adults, and seniors. 

She and her husband Bill, a software engineer, have three children, and over the last eight years, has been involved in volunteering in her kids’ schools, shuttling them to extra-curriculars, and leading a small group at her home church, Menlo Church Saratoga.

Now she is being led to step back into pastoral ministry, this time as the Part-Time Transitional Pastor at West Valley Presbyterian Church. She is excited to see what the Lord will do among us and through us.
